Gardasil approved by the Food and Drug Administration for female patients ages 9 to 26 years old. Gardasil is a vaccine (injection/shot) that helps protect against the following diseases caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV):

• cervical cancer
• abnormal and precancerous cervical lesions
• abnormal and precancerous vaginal lesions
• abnormal and precancerous vulvar lesions
• genital warts

Gardasil is given as an injection in 3 doses of the vaccine.
